102 Degrees, People!

That's our high today here in H-town. Blazing hot! The air is hot, the ground is hot. Thank heavens we can cool off in the a/c. I am worried for all the elderly and less fortunate in Houston that don't have or can't afford to use an air conditioner. There has already been a heat-related death in our city. Come on, RAIN!

I rode my bike yesterday for only 32 minutes, partly because I had to go pee, but also because it was still in the 90's at 7 pm. Today, right now, the weather guy is telling me it's 102. Sorry, Nellie, no riding today. Last night I felt weak and shaky and a little nauseated. And today I still feel kinda queasy. I think I got way too hot.

Maybe later tonight I'll try doing some weights so today won't be a total loss for exercise. The thought of making myself sweat, though, is not sounding good.

I need to plan our vacation for next month (I know, I'm a procrastinator when it comes to spending money that way!). I'm thinking some place cold would be nice.

Drink your water and check on your neighbors and pets. Stay cool!!
UPDATE: Actually, when I wrote this post, it was 103. The high for today was 104. We won't even talk about the heat index!

  1. I hear you on the heat!! However, around here, asking for rain is just asking for higher humidity and awful heat indexes.

Take it easy, and stay hydrated. That's what I'm trying my best to do.

  2. Come on up here to the Great White North ... it's only 92 today!
I wouldn't go outside to do anything other than get in to my a/c'd van & go someplace with a/c.
Too darn hot for anything else let alone exercise. Ick.
Yes, it sounds like you got a bit of heatstroke there. Careful eh, Tena?
I'm sure Nellie would appreciate the break too. Her tires must get hot! :)

  3. I'll quit complaining about our 95 degrees (with significantly less humdity than you), but even our heat wave makes me NOT want to exercise outside. I'm planning on the gym this afternoon for a swim or water aerobics.

  4. This heat is brutal, isn't it? I did my cardio inside the gym today.

The bad thing about the heat sickness is it kind of sneaks up on you. You take care!

  5. Don't over do it in this heat!

Is this a driving vacay or could there be a plane ride involved? May I suggest Seattle?

  6. Sorry it's so hot there! I don't do well in the heat and I always wonder why fat doesn't just melt off me when it get's that hot!

  7. Wow! That is hot... I'm sitting here wrapped in a blanket!

  8. Can you imagine what August is going to look like this year? Just call me Debbie Downer!:-)

  9. Wow, I'm definitely following your blog! 10 pounds in one month! That's awesome. I think I'm going to copy every post out of your blog and do what you've been doing. :-)

  10. I live in H-Town too and it is hot. I told another blogger its so hot the devil waved at me when I passed him on the street. IT'S HOT!
