Monday Weigh-In

After I wrote my last post, I got to thinking about how it might have sounded like I let the scale determine my success and my mood. And this morning when I was reading through the comments, Carla and Roxie reminded me not to let the scale, or the number I see on the scale, be the deciding factor on how I feel. In the past, I did let that "number" upset me when it didn't go the way I'd hoped. But lately, I am so determined to look at this trip down weight-loss lane as a means to a better me, that the number I see only makes me work harder.

And the number on the scale today is a good indication that I'm doing things right. I saw 250.4 on my scale! That's a loss of 1.6 lbs since last Monday. And yes, it did make me really happy. But I can feel the changes in my body and in my energy and how my clothes are fitting and that means much more to me than the number I got in today's weigh-in.
If it weren't for blogging, I'm not so sure I would have this healthy attitude about my success. The encouraging words and motivation that blogging brings into my day are must-have travel accessories for this weight-loss trip! I want this time to be the last time I'm faced with losing this much weight. I want this journey to be IT!!!
Happy Monday! And don't forget to drink your water!

  2. YAY for a great post. I never weigh because the scales tend to lie... My pants falling off of me tells a better story....er, uh, well, you know what I mean!

  3. YAY on the loss!! I know we all get wrapped in the number on the scale, but when it can motivate and energize us (as it has with you this morning), it's all good!

  4. Congrats on the loss. I know it's really hard to not let the number on the scale effect me and I tell myself ALL THE TIME it's just a number. But it still hurts when it's not what I want to see.

  5. Well done! I'm at the stage now where I see everything as encouragement. Lost weight? Great, it's encourages me to lose more. Scale standing still? Great, I need to work harder!

  6. Ah, the grand feeling that seeing a low number on the scale and getting fit gives. That feeling can't be put in any pill....you have to earn it. :)

Doing great! I really don't know how you are biking in this Houston heat. It's a killer.

  7. You're spot ON on the scale: it's just a number. It can give us a happy tingle or motivate us to go GET that happy tingle. :) Well done!

  9. Blogging really does make the journey so much more enjoyable. I don't know what led me to it, but the encouragement, laughs, knowledge and camaraderie that comes from blogland is what has made the difference for me.

I think this will be your last time Tena. Just keep doing what you did, because it worked. :-)
