Back to Feelin' It

Over the weekend I had a slight binge attack. I say slight because it was nothing like I've done in the past. I did eat an entire loaf of challah bread. Gotta love that stuff. The nectar of the yeast gods. It was freshly baked, too. I also had a brownie. I can't believe I'm even talking about it here since I usually eat this way when no one is looking. The slight part is that I ate these foods over a two day period. In the past I might have had them in a span of a few hours.

Another difference this time was that when I finished them, I was done. I even rode my bike Saturday, Sunday, and today for 30-40 minutes each day. In the past I would have laid around like a stuffed toad. So I think I'm learning a new appreciation of self.

And today I was right back to eating according to my plan. I'm tweaking it a little because as we all know diets can get complicated what with all the planning and recipes, etc. I'm keeping it simple this week. Sometimes I have to take the focus off the food because it leads to overeating. Less on the menu gives me less anxiety.

It feels good to sit here and know that I had my fling with food this past weekend but I didn't gain from it and I'm setting my sights back on the goal. Yeah!

Breathe deep and relax, drink your water, and reflect on the best part of today!

  1. It is kind of like having a fling... I was thinking of all of the things you COULD have added to the bread or the brownie and then I gave you a virtual high five for avoiding old behaviors! YEAH! I too am a binge in private kind of person. I appreciate that it took some change to post it on your blog!

  2. It really is about progress, not perfection. Learning to find and see our successes is going to make it much easier to continue the new way of life. Berating myself has never ever done a thing to shrink my butt! Loving self-care is the way to go.

    Awesome!

  3. Im laughing. Not at you. With you. As that is something I HAVE DONE.
shabbat, hanging out, toddler turns nose up at challah, husband working late, I polish it all off in an evening.

  4. The secret to success is not to never fail, but to handle the missteps correctly. And I think you did great!

I love that you're simplifying your food. That's one of the best things about eating healthy... I don't have to wonder about supper until suppertime. As long as the fridge is full of vegetables, we'll have supper!

  7. Glad you were able to turn things around! sometimes, when we have too many options, it's easier to fall of track. I know when I have simple food options, and have planned them into my day.. I stay on track.

  8. Funny what we are willing to eat behind closed doors, but out in the open we are more careful.

Way to be brave for copping to it- you totally could have left it out of the post. Thats bravery, woman!

  9. I'm trying to take the focus off of food for sanitys sake too! Shifting my priorities since I'm not perfect and can't eat perfect and workout perfect and be perfectly balanced is the only way to create new habits across the board. If I focus on something for too long I end up getting derailed.
